This is the ending to Divine Rivals. The romance is different in this book, the Gods get desperate, and it all comes to a close. It is better than the first book for sure.
The world-building in “Ruthless Vows” is top-notch, as always with Ross. She has a knack for creating immersive settings that pull you right in. The characters are well-developed, and their emotional journeys feel genuine and relatable. However, I felt the pacing was a bit off compared to “Divine Rivals.” There were moments where the plot dragged, making it harder to stay fully engaged.
The romance and intrigue elements are strong, but they sometimes felt overshadowed by the dense political subplots. While I appreciate a good complex storyline, it occasionally felt like too much was going on, making it hard to follow all the threads without getting a bit lost.
One thing I loved about “Divine Rivals” was its perfect balance between action and character development. “Ruthless Vows,” though compelling, leaned a bit too heavily on the former, which made some of the character arcs feel rushed or underdeveloped.
All in all, “Ruthless Vows” is a worthy sequel that continues the story in an engaging way, even if it doesn’t quite reach the heights of its predecessor. Definitely worth a read if you’re a fan of the series!
