Rogue Protocol: The Murderbot Diaries

Rogue Protocol is the third entry in Martha Wells's Hugo, Nebula, Alex, and Locus Award-winning, New York Times and USA Today bestselling series, The Murderbot Diaries.
Starring a human-like android who keeps getting sucked back into adventure after adventure, though it just wants to be left alone, away from humanity and small talk.
Who knew being a heartless killing machine would present so many moral dilemmas?
Sci-fi’s favorite antisocial A.I. is back on a mission. The case against the too-big-to-fail GrayCris Corporation is floundering, and more importantly, authorities are beginning to ask more questions about where Dr. Mensah's SecUnit is.
And Murderbot would rather those questions went away. For good.

For the first time since traveling on it's own MB is outted as a SecUnit and falls back into it's old role of protecting "annoying and deeply inadequate humans." On this journey however, we have Don Abene and the friendliest robot Miki. While I do miss ART deeply, Miki still managed to irritate MB in just the right way that gave me a laugh but also felt close to home. For me this one wasn't as great as the second book, but I do love that the relationship between Miki and Abene and the similarities to the first book led to MB thinking back on his potential friendships with Dr. Mensah and the rest of PresAux.
Wells has a way with pacing that guides you in with the first chapter before hitting the thrusters and speeding you into action. The writing never fails to capture and hold on to you. The world-building took a slight backseat in this installment to give more focus on character development that I enjoyed greatly.
I can't wait to see what the fourth book brings.
