Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow: Illustrated 200th Anniversary Edition

I know these stories are meant to be satirical, but I got no joy from the overtly sexist portrayals of women, especially in Rip Van Winkel (which has almost no dialogue and is just told via narrated exposition.) The voice, atmosphere and description is very well written however.
