I don't know why I'd already rated this book, as I just now finished listening to it. And oh how sad I was that the story ended, not just in this book but in the Twelve Houses series. I have loved being immersed in the world Sharon Shinn created and will miss it if this is indeed the last of the series, as Shinn suggested in her audio message at the start of the book.
I rated this one five stars not because it's necessarily better than the others in the series, but because it wasn't until I listened to this one that I realized how much each of the stories has stuck with me, even though I read the first one a long while back and have listened to dozens of other books in between each one. I almost never re-read books, but I'd like to listen to this series again some day, now that I have know the characters so much better.
