Spending a pre-Christmas week minding a busy quilt shop is supposed to be a nice vacation for Aggy and Celeste. However a cryptic note about the past and a tension filled guild meeting hint at something sinister stirring. Sure enough, the next morning a body is found in what appears to be a tragic accident. That conclusion doesn’t sit right with the ladies, so they do a little more digging. Can they uncover the secret someone was willing to kill for?
While I’ve read many of Kathryn Mykel’s other books, this was my introduction to the Floppy Hat Ladies, Agatha Christine and Celeste. I really enjoyed their quiet and thoughtful approach to solving the case, relying more on observation than confrontation. Their friendship is nicely established and felt genuinely lived in. The descriptive writing made me feel as if I was there along with the ladies, enjoying a hot cocoa and admiring the quilts. I look forward to seeing more of both these ladies and the shared world of Lilac Lane.
I received an advanced reading copy from Ms. Mykel for free, and I am voluntarily leaving this review.
