Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

The bestselling literary mashup that transforms Jane Austen's beloved classic into a thrilling zombie adventure filled with romance, satire, sword fights, and undead chaos. Now a major motion picture! Complete with romance, heartbreak, swordfights, cannibalism, and thousands of rotting corpses, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is an audacious retelling of English literature's most enduring novel. This expanded edition of the beloved Jane Austen novel featuring all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem begins when a mysterious plague falls upon the quiet English village of Meryton--and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she's soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers--and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield. It's the perfect read for literature lovers, zombie fans, and anyone who loves a reanimated Austen.

Witty, funny and ridiculous in the best way! I loved the clever writing and listening to the audiobook on Audible made it even more fun.
My favorite part was Elizabeth “Lizzy” Bennet and seeing her and her sisters trained in the deadly arts with a father who actually supports their ability to kick some serious zombie butt! I loved the strong female characters and the fun twist on a classic story.
It's cute, but not terribly engaging. The witty banter of Austen remains, and I appreciated this.
I liked this book but some of the additions were a little rediculous. This book also made me glad that a lot of the formality and ceremony of that age are gone. I think that I would have had a harder time reading this book if it hadn't been for the zombies.
Love this twist on these books!
3.5 stars. As a huge Pride and Prejudice fan, I resisted this book for as long as I could. It was only when I saw the trailer for the movie that I wanted to read it. This should only be read lightly and not taken seriously at all. I was impressed with how well the zombies fit in with the original novel, leading me to wonder what other classic novels zombies might overtake. A Tale of Two Cities with Zombies. A Farewell to Arms of Zombies. Far From the Maddening Crowd of Zombies. The possibilities are endless.
