Pretty Little Wife: A Suspenseful Mystery Thriller Set in an Idyllic College Town with Dark Secrets

Lila Ridgefield lives in an idyllic college town, but not everything is what it seems. Lila isn't what she seems.
A student vanished months ago. Now, Lila's husband, Aaron, is also missing. At first these cases are treated as horrible coincidences until it's discovered the student is really the third of three unexplained disappearances over the last few years. The police are desperate to find the connection, if there even is one. Little do they know they might be stumbling over only part of the truth....
With the small town in an uproar, everyone is worried about the whereabouts of their beloved high school teacher. Everyone except Lila, his wife. She's definitely confused about her missing husband but only because she was the last person to see his body, and now it's gone.

I liked this book more than I thought I would! I don’t think the mystery aspect was very strong, but I loved the characters and especially, Lila’s backstory.
[This isn’t a spoiler, I won't say which episode]
This book reminded me of a specific Criminal Minds episode that is engrained in my mind. With my reference to Criminal Minds, keep in mind that this book doesn't have any criminal profiling (which I tend to love), but I referenced it solely for the plot reference to the episode that I have in mind.
I was also pleasantly surprised that this book features a few “podcast” chapters.

This is a good book for anyone who likes domestic thrillers. Characters are flawed, things aren't always as they seem and just enough twists to keep you guessing.
Lila and Aaron Ridgefield live in a quaint college town in Ithaca, NY. Aaron is a a high school teacher and beloved coach. Lila, who has a law degree but works as a real estate agent sparingly because her husband would rather she just be the pretty little wife, finds some damaging information about her husband. What should she do? Both Lila and Aaron have disturbing childhoods and that's what brought them together. Lila is ice cold, calculating and does whatever Aaron tells her to do until the day she murders him. But things start to unravel quickly when Aaron's car and body aren't found where Lila left them and she becomes the prime suspect. Where is Aaron? If he isn't dead, is he coming after Lila now? Fast, suspenseful and a creepy turn at the end, twisted on many levels, this one kept me reading two days straight.

So freaking good!!
This had promise but honestly it just wasn’t that good. The twist was okay but nothing ground breaking. All around just eh? 5/10
The dynamic between the two females leads was phenomenally written and executed. The title of this book nearly threw me off, because it is terrible, but the story was brilliant. Kept me guessing until the end and the conclusion felt well earned and fleshed out.
