So I will say, that while I am giving this 4 stars, this one wasn't my favorite of the four books.
I thought Dawson's fake engagement plan was predictable. And with every fake engagement comes the couple eventually falling in love, right? I didn't love the bullying aspect with Piper...I felt like if he truly loved her as much as he said he did in the past, it shouldn't have been so easy to do it. I also didn't love how quickly Piper just gave herself to him...like girl...put up some kind of fight lol. I did think that Dawson was going to hand Piper over eventually, so I was glad to be wrong there. Once I got past the initial dislike of how their re-kindling started and it became more "real", I did really enjoy their relationship. You could feel that they really did love each other when they were kids and that they both felt like they could just pick back up where they left off.
Cruz taking Piper I felt like was inevitable, and their dad just flat out trying to blow her head off was kind of crazy. I'm glad there wasn't too much harm done to Piper especially after how Dawson treated her in the beginning.
I thought the grand gesture with the Ferris wheel was sweet and a good nod to their past. In the end I'm glad Piper finally decided to hear him out rather than taking hearsay and a voicemail as the whole truth. I get her being pissed because I can't say that I wouldn't have reacted the same way, but I'm glad Lisa kind of forced her into that conversation with Dawson.
All in all, this was a very good story, I just enjoyed book #2 so much that this one couldn't compare. I would definitely re-read this whole series, and I am still giving this one in particular 4 stars.
