Incredible!! I loved it so so much, the way the author criticies the society not being in a way to specific is fabulous.

This book is the everybody loves Anne Elliot show and I’m not exactly mad about it but damn! There’s not a single person who doesn’t think she’s great except for her own terrible family. Makes me so glad that I live in today’s era because all that politeness and “frailty of women” stuff would make me insane for sure.

Not my favorite Austen novel for a few reasons. Firstly, it’s a rough start and takes awhile to get to the plot. I appreciate character descriptions, but I need a little more dialogue to keep my interest. Secondly, I enjoy Anne as a heroine, but there are no other characters that I particularly enjoy. Reading Mary’s dialogue made me want to put the book down. Where Mrs. Bennett in Pride & Prejudice is similarly ridiculous, Mary had a lot of dialogue time and it was a bit much for me. Thirdly, I found Captain Wentworth’s explanation of his behavior towards Louisa to be lackluster and I think unlike Darcy whose pride is checked by Elizabeth, Wentworth didn’t really undergo any major character transformation that justified the ending. It’s still an Austen novel, so I will continue to add it to my rotation every once in awhile but I might try an audiobook next time.

A classic. One of my favorites. A comfort to read, cozied up with tea on a rainy day. Anne’s overthinking and morose attitude on life and love are so relatable, and the frustrations endured as Anne and Wentworth love each other through time and distance are somehow comforting.
