One Small Echo (Shadowsong)

I listened to One Small Echo by Jane Washington on Audible, and this was definitely a 5-star read for me. The world-building completely pulled me in.

I loved how unique the magic system felt, especially the bonded monsters, different classes, and the way those bonds reveal more about both the humans and monsters. There was enough mystery woven into the world that I kept wanting to understand more.

And Eiko’s story! 🖤 I loved watching her grow throughout the book. There’s something so powerful about a woman being completely broken down and realizing she gets to decide who she becomes afterward. The friendships, romance, danger, humor, and darker moments balanced each other so well, and that ending had me READY for more. I need the next book immediately.

Jane Washington is one of my fav authors. I really liked this book. The main character was funny and not an immediate hero- she had flaws. I love the friendship group and the slow burn angst with the romance. The ending was so sad and left on cliff hanger of sorts.🥺and now I have to wait till the second one comes out in Nov.
