I think the third act is unfortunately where the story lagged a bit for me. The human(ish) characters were simply not as interesting as Demeter and Steward, and the story suffered because they narrated much more in the third act. Additionally, for most of the story, everything took place on Demeter’s ship, but the action shifted off the ship for a lot of the ending, which weakened the story in my opinion.
Ultimately, the book was still fantastic, but just didn’t fully stick the landing for me.
