  • Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut
  • Just Before the War with the Eskimos
  • The Laughing Man
  • Down at the Dinghy

The dark but always satirical Salinger makes seemingly small moments feel like nostalgic photographs as you read through these tales. Common themes of the treatment of children, alcoholism, and fear of death run throughout each of these stories. Even the stories that were not a home run for me impressed me beyond belief for their complexity and attention to detail.
