Though fictitious, the author does a great job lacing facts, dates, and events into the storylines of the characters to make this book feel biographical. You will bounce from love to dislike and back again with each of the four wives, most especially with Ernest Hemingway himself. Obviously, Hemingway had a lot of internal demons to deal with, but it makes you wonder what his wives were possessed with to make them crave and need him in their lives no matter what the cost.
This is a great novel for any season.
