Hated her the writing is fine but often repetitive because this was a magazine stories. She talks about her awful hard luck life but chooses to buy a diamond ring over getting her daughter healthy. She does housekeeping and makes me realize Why I Never want one as she snoops through homes and tries on clothes. She is the kind of person that you hate at the end for all of the Stupid decisions she makes.

I listened to the audio book and found it enjoyable to hear the author tell the story in her own voice.

I hate rating books that are based on a trial someone else lived through. But for whatever reason I continue to read them. This book was interesting, but tbh it wasn’t what I had been anticipating. I’m not sure how to describe my thoughts… I understand that this was Stephanie’s struggle, but it just seems to envelope the reader in her trauma? More than anything I found this book depressing. I know that this is unfortunately the way our county’s safety net has been designed, but I absolutely hate how it only provides you with just enough to survive, and no where near enough to flourish.
