Love Warrior: A Memoir

The memoir by Glennon Doyle tells the story of her journey of self-discovery after the implosion of her marriage. Just when Glennon Doyle Melton was beginning to feel she had it all figured out―three happy children, a doting spouse, and a writing career so successful that her first book catapulted to the top of the New York Times bestseller list―her husband revealed his infidelity and she was forced to realize that nothing was as it seemed. Love Warrior is a gorgeous and inspiring account of how we are born to be warriors: strong, powerful, and brave; able to confront the pain and claim the love that exists for us all. This chronicle of a beautiful, brutal journey speaks to anyone who yearns for deeper, truer relationships and a more abundant, authentic life.

i ultimately decided to DNF this book at 65%, but i’m adding it to my read list because putting in that much effort feels worthy. by the time i reached chapter 10, i found myself taken aback by the author’s relentless "woe is me" perspective. it felt like she was navigating life as if it was all just happening to her, grappling with the challenges of setting boundaries and making choices that served her well. Unfortunately, this turned into more of a drawn-out sob story than i could handle, leaving me feeling drained as a reader.

I love Glendon's writing style and vulnerability. Her over thinking reminds me of my own thoughts and feeling on life.
I've learned some important things from reading this book and look forward to more of her sharing her journey so openly.

"I learn that making decisions is never about doing the right thing or the wrong thing. It's about doing the precise thing. The precise thing is always incredibly personal and often makes no sense to anyone else."
Learning to trust yourself can be a difficult journey after being tossed around by life and feeling lost in the world and within yourself. Glennon's story of overcoming her world and self is an inspiration.
