I’ve yet to read a Johann Hari book I didn’t thoroughly enjoy. Relevant and challenging of the status quo in how we understand the causes and remedies for depression. But… a book written about depression is, maybe not surprisingly, slightly depressing. Took my time reading this as I could only handle small chunks.

Really interesting perspective on the causes of depression and anxiety. And the questionable effectiveness of current definitions and treatments. Instead of antidepressants he talks about the power of reconnection to people, meaningful work, values and a hopeful future. Food for thought for sure.

I like this quote : It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society. - Jiddu Krishnamurti
