Legendary (Caraval, 2)

4.5 ⭐️ I absolutely love this whimsical series! There was more world building in this one which I really appreciated, and some pretty shocking developments! Can’t wait to continue with book 3!

I am not really sure how I want to review this book, I'm like do I need to read the third one because this one left me with some questions so I'm like hmm not sure. I guess I will give it a 3.5 / 5 star rating for the time being. In this second installment to the Caraval series, the games continue and the unveiling of Legend comes to light, what happens to Donatella and Scarlett's mother is also revealed however the Jacks story line and how the fates were cursed, I feel like there are parts missing and even the storyline about Donatella and Scarlet's mother seems to be missing pieces or maybe I just missed it some how, I don't know.
I did for the most part enjoy the book. Stephanie has a way of writing her books that has so much going on but not so confusing well at least mostly LOL and you get really pulled in to the characters, so much so you want to know more about them.

Though the audiobooks for these books are great (also they are read by the same lady that did Fourth Wing, so I am a bit bias, I like her narrating) any way the physical is so great, I am not sure if all the copies printed are the same but mine Stephanie includes a quick glossary of some terms and characters in the end, her annotations to an alternate ending along with a playlists that I've shared in discord server https://discord.gg/6w2nzfsh in the music channel. I will come back to this review once I finish the third book for now that is all I have.

Caraval 2 - Me 0

It's not a horrible story but just like the first one it's kind of everywhere and also doesn't really give much. I'm not sure if that makes sense but that's how I felt. It was another adventure/love story but in the pov of the character I like even less than the first story. I found myself wishing it was back to Scarlett and Julian. Something about Tella just irks me. I thought it was obvious who legend was in the first book and it was just a constant reminder of who it was until they told you who it was as if it was a shocker. Im going to continue power throughing this series but the more I read the more i feel like I'll be disappointed.

So far the only interesting character I've read about are Aiko and Jack's. Jack's reasoning for being a villian is kind of boring and I know he has his own series so I hope that's better. I assume Aiko is just gonna be a side character that shows up from time to time.

4.5 ⭐️ As much as I enjoyed Caraval, I enjoyed Legendary that much more. It's been a couple months since I read Caraval but I don't remember liking Donatella very much...but I enjoyed her character much more in this one. I really didn't want Legend to be who he ended up being, but it was kind of inevitable the way it was set up, and I'm curious to see how it plays out in the next book.
