Last Days

"The deceptively simple prose keeps the book brisk and even gripping as its puzzles grow more craggy and complex. This is Evenson's singular, Poe-like gift: He writes with intelligence and a steady hand, even when his characters decide to lop their own limbs off."--Time Out New York
When Kline is kidnapped by a dark sect that believes amputation brings you closer to God, he's tasked with uncovering who murdered their leader. Will he uncover the truth in time to save himself, take on the mantle of prophet, or destroy all he sees with a rain of biblical violence?

This was a good read
It was irritating lol but I enjoyed the cult aspects and how they are manipulating and confusing on purpose
Wish our homie Kline didn’t go nuts at the end but still a great and quick read
The hospital part was intense
It's like a darker, more extreme Shutter Island. But with cults. It's also lowkey a little funny. This book doesn't take itself too seriously, and I enjoyed every second of this.
Definitely not for the faint of heart! Kline is kidnapped by a crazy self mutilating cult that believes amputating your limbs brings you closer to god. Kline struggles to find a way out of the nightmarish compound without losing more than he’s willing to give.
This one was uncomfortable, it was grotesque, it was violent and it was so, so weird! Despite this being only about 200 pages it took me awhile to finish because I had to put it down several times when it got too much for me.
If you’re looking for a short but terrifying novella with a weird story, and can ha die some pretty graphically grotesque imagery, check this one
