I was quite disappointed in this book. I found it confusing, far-fetched and downright annoying. I found myself skimming after page 150 and predicting the outcome nearly perfectly. I didn't need to waste my time and read the book cover-to-cover.

The book reminded me a bit of Gabaldon's "Outlander" series, but this book pre-dates that phenomenon, but sex was the key driver here as well.

Now I don't believe in reincarnation myself, but I like the fictional possibility of such a thing, but why were all the characters nobility in the 1200's? Stuff like that always cracks me up with those who believe in reincarnation! Why is that in our past lives no one remembers being a field mouse or a dung beetle? A street urchin or a scullery maid? It's always those recalling their lives as Cleopatra, etc.

The idea that this group of people all had been reincarnated 800 years later after living in the same period in the 1200's together was rather odd. Too coincidental!! And some of them seemed to remember their past lives and were filled with such resentment or angst about setting things right this time around.

This book was full of characters that you would not want as your friends! People sleeping around, attempting rape, seeking to dominate or harm others. These weren't good people to begin with, and hopefully in their "next life" reincarnation, they will come back and gain some humility as a horse fly or termite.
