As a child, Annie White was plagued by terrifying visions of a serial killer that ended with the death of the Newton Slayer. Now the visions have returned and she feels compelled to return to Newton to discover why she is having these nightmares.

Rafe Vargas, part-owner of ARES Security, is in Newton, Iowa to sell his late grandfather's house and clear out his belongings. Little does he

Meeting by chance, Rafe is intrigued by Annie. When he discovers she may be in danger, he will do everything possible to keep her safe. The killer seems to have a twisted infatuation with Annie, can they discover what her connection is to the murderer? Can they stop the madman before anyone else is hurt?

Alexandra Ivy is a new to me author that has me wondering what took me so long to discover her! In Kill Without Mercy, she weaved an fascinating story that kept me turning the pages well into the night. Her characters are multi-layered and the settings were easy to visualize.

Rafe and Annie have a sizzling hot desire for each other, though Annie worried that his interest would diminish when he was no longer protecting her from the serial killer. I could understand why she was worried, but Rafe gave no reason for her to think his feelings were so short sighted. He was in it for the long-haul.

I liked the twists with the serial killer and while I wasn't surprised by the turns, they weren't things that I assumed would happen. I would have liked to have “felt” the serial killer a littler more as he was pursuing the women, but it didn't take away from the story. I just think that it would have been a nice
added dimension to the book if we were to witness the murder of one of the victims through his eyes.

I loved meeting Rafe's partners in ARES Security and canNOT wait for them to get their stories told, I will be buying them as soon as they come out!
