A slow burn, with the right amount of anticipation that doesn’t leave you frustrated, but instead makes you yearn and smile 😌 I loved Rich and Luvie’s story. Rich, a street fighter, taught hard lessons about being a man from his father, Senior and takes on the weight of the world. Hard, but softens for his sister Arnez and his Luvie aka Slim. Luvie was in an abusive relationship with NFL player/school sweetheart AJ. Memories start trickling of how her father abused and then killed her mother, when the scars and bruises from AJ gets too heavy. Finally, mustering the courage to leave with a friend’s help Yessenia, she leaves and goes back home to Houston with her Aunt Faye and Uncle Kenny. Faye cleans houses and brings Luvie along to help, in which she meets Rich aka Pup. He immediately sees her and the bruises she’s hiding. A slow friendship builds between them. He helps put her life back together and she opens a soft spot in him. The chemistry is clear and a beautiful bond transpires. Faye has a past with Senior that is exposed and complicated. Lots of drama happens in between, but I enjoyed this read 🥰 Pup and Slim 😘
