Inkheart

From internationally acclaimed storyteller Cornelia Funke, the first book in the bestselling, magical epic. Inkheart is a modern classic that has stolen the hearts of generations of young readers.
One cruel night, Meggie's father reads aloud from a book called INKHEART-- and an evil ruler escapes the boundaries of fiction and lands in their living room. Suddenly, Meggie is smack in the middle of the kind of adventure she has only read about in books. Meggie must learn to harness the magic that has conjured this nightmare. For only she can change the course of the story that has changed her life forever.
This is INKHEART--a timeless tale about books, about imagination, about life. Dare to read it aloud.

I picked this up for bookclub.
I love this book and the author. I love how full all of her characters are. I have heard her speak about choosing just the right person to translate for her, based on the feel of the story and how much easier it became for her once she became bilingual. I haven't gotten to the rest of the trilogy, but I plan on it at some point.
I recommend this book.

I don't know exactly why, but I did not enjoy this.
Cute story- Capricorn, Dustfinger, Basta- all characters "read" out of a book into our world. Capricorn is trying to capture "Silvertongue" (Mo) so that he can read "The Shadow"out of the book also. Capricorn succeeds in capturing Meggie, Mo's daughter, who later learns she has the same ability to read characters out of books. Ends happily even after the no so happy things happen to Meggie and Mo.
Want to see the movie and read the sequels.

To no fault of the book, I just thought this would be more of a fantasy book than it really is. So it was a little disappointing to what I built up in my head.
Took me a while to get started but once I did I couldn’t stop!
