Not what I was expecting. For some reason this book was nestled in with a bunch of zombie titles and I assumed that it was going to be about zombies. Sigler is a solid writer and although the gratuitous violence at times was a bit much, I enjoyed this non-zombie story about infection. A solid thriller/scifi. I will certainly checkout the sequel to keep up with the characters. I give Sigler props for writing this book in such a way that it can both be a standalone novel or lead you into the second book. I dislike series books that are really just one book broken up into pieces. This book has a good conclusion - though perhaps a bit rushed considering the build-up - that still leaves enough interest for a follow-up. Not my usual genre or style, but an enjoyable read.
