This is definitely a fast paced, suspenseful story about what really goes on behind closed doors. Jillian seems to have it all- a successful career, loving husband and two young children. But what others don't see is that her loving husband is abusive, and Jillian will do anything to protect her family. Without giving away exactly what she does and what happens (not too hard to guess), I did enjoy the writing, the plot and the short chapters (love short chapters!). I did not guess how this was going to end. Would have definitely liked to see more of Goat and Paul. That was strange how they were just "written off" when the storyline changed. The second half of the book did seem to have a lot in it (affair, murder, kidnapping, arrests) and it was not as easy to believe. Could all those happen? Sure, I guess but I think it diluted the story a bit. I read this was Redfern's debut novel. In an Instant is much better.
