Was hard to keep up with at first, a lot of characters and going back and forth between scenes but once I got a hold of what was happening I couldn’t put it down
A dual-timeline story, bringing together 1950’s British society Cairo, and a modern-day New England love story. Both stories were compelling, and kept me up late at night with adventure and dark secrets. The Cairo era was somewhat based on an historic event that occurred post-Suez canal, and of which I had not been previously acquainted. The New England story, set on Winthrop Island, actually takes place in two eras - a couple’s young love, and a decade later, re-meeting in an inevitable circumstance. I’ll look for more stories from Beatriz Williams.
