Huntsman by Naima Simone is a dark, gritty romance packed with revenge, betrayal, violence, and plenty of spice. If you’re looking for a soft love story, this isn’t it. This book leans heavily into its darker themes and doesn’t shy away from the bloodshed.
The story centers around a princess determined to survive after a devastating betrayal within her own family. When her aunt sets events in motion to secure her own power, the princess finds herself hunted by one of the most feared men around—the Huntsman.
What I enjoyed most was the constant tension between the main characters. Their relationship begins with distrust, resentment, and a desire to outsmart one another, making the enemies-to-lovers trope feel earned. The push and pull between them kept the story moving and made me curious to see how their dynamic would evolve.
The world is filled with secrets, shifting loyalties, and revenge plots that kept me engaged throughout the book. There were several moments that surprised me, and I appreciated how the story continued to raise the stakes as more truths came to light.
While some of the darker and more graphic scenes may not be for every reader, fans of dark romance, morally gray characters, and high-stakes drama will likely enjoy this one.
Overall, this was an entertaining read with plenty of action, spice, and suspense. A solid 4-star read for me.
