Hidden: An Exciting Novel of Suspense (A Lost and Found Novel)

A page-turning new story from the bestselling author of No Way Out, perfect for fans of Nora Roberts and Danielle Steel! Meet a brother and sister who are drawn into a treacherous mystery through an antique with a dark past, as they race against time to help a single mother and take down a ruthless couple bent on taking control of their family’s legacy…
At first glance, few would guess that Luna and Cullan Bodman are siblings. Cullan is efficient and serious while his younger sister Luna is a free spirit. When the two launch their furniture restoration shop/café—an offshoot of the family’s longtime antique business—in an up-and-coming arts center, little do they know their unique talents may be their only defense against a dangerous betrayal.
When Luna gets a strange sense about a piece Cullan just acquired, the two find themselves uniting to solve a mystery that has far-reaching consequences—never knowing there are some who’ll stop at nothing to claim what they believe is theirs. No matter what, Luna and Cullen know they can rely on each other—and this time, their lives may depend on it…

I received this book in exchange for a review.
First, the positive points. This is an easy read. I think it's good for one of those times you don't want to have to think very much. Also, one of the main characters, Luna, has potential to be an interesting protagonist.
My main qualm is how misleading the summary blurb is. The synopsis of this book would have you believe that it is a high stakes mystery/ thriller. It is much more watered down than that. There isn't even a mystery component, nor a thrilling one, really. Nobody's life was put in any danger. It is comparable to the Hallmark version of said genre. Although the book does follow several characters that start in different storylines, overall, the book was pretty simple and predictable. The choice of pop cultural references used added to it feeling corny. [In one instance, two similar references were made conjunctively, which was wholly unnecessary and also probably annoyed me more than it should have.]
Perhaps, being the first of a series, the author wanted more to familiarize us with the characters instead of having them doing too much. To that end, the protagonists were likable, while the antagonists were not, albeit in a very unnuanced way. The characters could not be mistaken for being complex nor ambiguous.
Mild spoilers:
The story wrapped up in a neat, easy way. No complications, no real surprises. Good things happen to good people, while mean people get their comeuppance.
Although, I suppose that the one thing that did surprise me was the Herpes situation, and how Rowena didn't plan that part of her scheme. For such a fluffy book, I wasn't expecting something like that to come up.
I was also hoping that it would take on more of a supernatural element in terms of Luna's ability. Her sense of things was mentioned a lot, and I think it would have been better had that played a more significant part.
I might be interested in reading another book in the series if there will be more character development, better use of whatever unique skills the characters might possess, and also, an actual mystery to be solved.
