I have to agree with probably all the reviews I have seen - How is this so cute and wholesome?!? I absolutely love that this book not only depicts such a sweet and supportive romance but also a real-life coming out story with all of the emotions that go along with it. The conversation following the ending of Book 1 is just perfect. The idea of both feeling at fault but also wanting to make sure they other is okay is just so realistic. I definitely have had conversations like this especially with friends and loved ones. Although it was hard to read, I am glad that Oseman included some of the bullying in this book as well. It isn't all sunshine and roses, unfortunately. But I love how Nick stood up for Charlie (and himself).
There are so many characters that I just love in this book. First is the rugby coach. She was phenomenal in the first book and once again here, she has a way of sticking up for Nick and Charlie without really bringing any attention to them. She just says what she believes and the rest follow because they value her advice and opinion.
I absolutely adore Nick's mom. Not every child has such a supportive parent but it is nice to see a parent who is supportive depicted in a story like this. It just goes to show some readers that there may be parents out there that are accepting and that even though coming out is difficult, parents may not have the same reaction you expect.
Lastly, I love Tara and Darcy. Because they have gone through their own journeys with coming out and figuring out who they are, they really support Nick and Charlie and give Nick some great advice. Sometimes the whole process isn't easy so I am glad that they explain the truth but also let Nick know that they love him and support him and that is all that matters. Such a beautiful friendship! Love when Tara says "Don't feel like you need to come out to anyone until you are feel ready." I think there is definitely this pressure to come out but in this book, we see that figuring out your identity takes time and that is 100% okay! Can't wait to see where their relationship progresses in Book 3

Quotes:
"Like, a lot of his year 11 friends like Harry are kinda judgmental and exactly the sort of people who bullied you last year. I was the only one on your side back then, and I'm so scared that'll happen to you again" pg. 127
"Nick...don't feel like you have to come out to anyone until you feel ready. Rumors spread so fast around our schools. That can be really hard to deal with if you barely know who you are" pg. 171
"Sorry, I guess people knowing about us still makes me panic. Nick...you don't need to feel bad for feeling like that. I don't expect you to be okay with coming out to everyone at once!" pg. 189
"It's not fine. You're always covering for me. Because you're the kindest, most thoughtful, and sweet and amazing person in the whole world" pg. 223

I cried happy tears throughout the date scene and his mother's conversation. I love this so much!! By the way, Charlie is more badass than anyone would think. The development that Nick is going through is amazing. These two are too cute for words!
