This is book four in Nancy Lavo‘s Lone Star Loves series but don’t be afraid to start with this one. Each of her stories can be read as a standalone book. And this one, we meet Noah and Emilee. Noah is an up-and-coming rockstar of a preacher fully intending to inherit his place behind the pulpit and his father‘s mega church in Houston. Emily is a family doctor practicing in the little town of Village Green (the setting of all of Nancy’s stories). Noah agrees to come to Village Greene to act as a substitute preacher while Preacher Dale recuperates from an injury. Combine the fish-out-of-water trope with the boy- (actually, girl) next-door trope, sprinkle in lots of chuckles and laugh out loud moments, and you have a charming result of Heart and Soul. Lavo’s trademark humor and sweet inspirational message is all through this story, and you will sigh with pleasure and satisfaction when you turn the last page. Grab this book.
