Haunted: A Novel

Haunted is a novel made up of twenty-three horrifying, hilarious, and stomach-churning stories. They’re told by people who have answered an ad for a writer’s retreat and unwittingly joined a “Survivor”-like scenario where the host withholds heat, power, and food. As the storytellers grow more desperate, their tales become more extreme, and they ruthlessly plot to make themselves the hero of the reality show that will surely be made from their plight. This is one of the most disturbing and outrageous books you’ll ever read, one that could only come from the mind of Chuck Palahniuk.

This is by far the most gross, grotesque and yucky book I've read in my life. It consists of multiple stories within the main story. Personal stories of some 15-odd individuals who are trapped in a spooky "Writer's Retreat". All of these supposed writer's have a dark, black past that they are trying to run from. Each story is wierder and darker than the previous one. And the main storyline is the most morbid one of them all, complete with cannabalism and self-mutilation.
I would definitely not recommend it for the faint-hearted. These stories are not horror stories on the lines of Stephen King's horror stories. They include lewd sexual acts and gory details to the level which most of us don't think.
I'm just glad I don't remember most of the stories and the details. The only thing I know is I wouldn't wish this book on anyone.

Coming of rage, collegiate crap.
Worst. Been trying to read this one for over a year now. Can't get myself to finish it.
I love horror and everything but this was actually disturbing at times. All of the different stories had somewhat of a good twist, but there’s some things that the author describes in detail that are kinda… uncomfortable. Still a good scary book but not the best I’ve ever read.
Fantastic story telling
