BN Mandeville Book Club

The Barnes and Noble Mandeville Book Club is an in person book club centered around good reads and great friends! This book club meets once a month, on the last Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM.

How do we select books?
We vote on books each month for group reads. We typically do not vote for the immediate next month, but a month ahead. For example at the August meeting we will be voting on our book for October. Caterina (our host) typically picks a topic or genre for the month and curates four options to vote from at the meeting; but members are always welcome to bring suggestions to the table.

What can I expect at the meeting?
Each meeting you can anticipate an activity that is themed towards the book we read, time for voting and discussing future reads, time to discuss what you've been reading in general, and then a free flowing discussion about the group read.

How many people usually attend book club?
Our average attendance is 10 people; but it does fluctuate.

Is there a cost associated with book club?
There is no cost associated with book club. This event is free and open to the public. You do not have to purchase the book club book to participate; but we do offer discounts at the meetings on book club books. For example at our meeting in September the October group read would have a 30% discount for those attending!

Graveyard Shift: A Novella

The author of sales sensation If We Were Villains returns with a story about a ragtag group of night shift workers who meet in the local cemetery to unearth the secrets lurking in an open grave.

Every night, in the college's ancient cemetery, five people cross paths as they work the late shift: a bartender, a rideshare driver, a hotel receptionist, the steward of the derelict church that looms over them, and the editor-in-chief of the college paper, always in search of a story.

One dark October evening in the defunct churchyard, they find a hole that wasn't there before. A fresh, open grave where no grave should be. But who dug it, and for whom?

Before they go their separate ways, the gravedigger returns. As they trail him through the night, they realize he may be the key to a string of strange happenings around town that have made headlines for the last few weeks--and that they may be closer to the mystery than they thought.

Atmospheric and eerie, with the ensemble cast her fans love and a delightfully familiar academic backdrop, Graveyard Shift is a modern Gothic tale in If We Were Villains author M. L. Rio's inimitable style.
