3.5, solid mystery balanced with romance but I do think the villain and her motives were a bit improbable
to start i really disliked the writing of this book. the begining maybe 100 or so pages felt like a 15 year old wrote it. so much repetitive descriptions throughout the whole book and some of it just totally unimaginative. i did enjoy the plot though it was engaging and the ending was an HEA so it gets points for that. i wouldn’t necessarily recommend it but it wasn’t the worst thing ever written either 🤷🏻♀️
I would actually give it 4.5 stars if it would let me. I honestly guessed the ending literally about halfway through the book just cause I’m used to these kinds of books. The amount of what I was actually wanting to hear the answer of I never did and truly hope there will be another book because I truly feel in love with Verenmore. Truly the more and more I read about it despite what happens I feel truly in love with. Kinda reminds me of a Vampire Academy and Dracula meets Wednesday Addams but without the paranormal creatures of vampires, werewolves and such so is to be believed, or is it? Truly hope another is coming soon as I really enjoyed it and many things were left unanswered.
I think I’ve discovered that I’m a mood reader and I wasn’t in the right mood to read this. And that’s the only reason it’s 3.5 stars and I feel bad about it.
Gothic, academia, forbidden romance, mystery. All things I really love. However, my favorite part about this book was the quotes and the beautiful pictures at the beginning of each chapter. Practically every chapter ends on a cliff hanger. It’s a love story. It’s a true dark romance. If you’re in the mood!

Was this a lyrical masterpiece? No. But it was never supposed to be! This story was haunting, dark, spicy and had character I feel in love with instantly! It also had a twist at the end I did not see coming!
