Ghost: The Halloween Boys

Ash Grove is a fine place to die.
Ames
I wanted to shake her and scream, "You don't have to be afraid anymore, you have me."
And then chain her to my bed and yell, "You should be very afraid now that you have me."
I inhabited a form that was what every legend and dark tale warned little girls like her about.
I'd slaughtered a thousand times over and I'd do so a thousand more.
But the worst thing I'd ever do... would be what I did to her.
Blythe
If kept running, I wouldn't break. If I kept hiding, I wouldn't cry.
If I kept moving he wouldn't find me.
Running from an impossible evil landed me between the claws of something ancient and horrifying. I went to the masquerade as a fox. How ironic, because I didn't feel clever, sly or brave. I was a wounded rabbit waiting for teeth.
And more than one set of fangs found me.
The worst part of all?
I liked it.

This was darker than I expected and I'm not usually one for Halloween themed books, but this one was worth it. The twists and turns were awesome and fun to keep turning the pages to see what happened next.
This book was interesting at some parts, but there was a lot of parts that felt a bit like fluff. I would’ve liked to have learned more about what happened on that night in 1823, and would’ve also liked to have seen the Halloween Boys’ characters more clearly and developed. I’m sure some of this stuff will probably come through in the rest of the series, but that was how I felt. As for Blythe, I kind of felt that she was a weak character. Once she became Death at the very try end, she started to have more of a backbone, but her naivety and fear made her seem stupid at times.
Definitely recommend this read, Im even on to the 2nd book.
I love love loved this book. This was the first supernatural read and I can see why people love it! I also always appreciate a plus-size FMC.
The character development and chemistry between the characters is so well written, I read this book in one sitting, I could not put it down! The amount of spice in this book was also perfect and who doesn't love a slow burn?
Overall, this book was incredibly entertaining, caught my attention from the beginning and is a great read - so add it to your TBR already!
