"Always be proud to play like a girl."

I really enjoyed this audiobook and finished it up in two days. It was an easy listen and great story which made the nine hour audio fly by.

An Own Voices story of an Argentinian soccer player who is trying to break free of the oppression and abuse that plagues females in her country along with rampant racism and colorism.

Fútbol is her chance to make it out and live the life of freedom she so desperately wants, but to get there she may be forced to let go of her family and her first love.

i really appreciated this book!! i’m glad this is YA because this would be a great way to introduce these difficult ideas of abortion, the killing of women, and abuse without being too heavy. loved the main character :)

A good tale about following your own path, regardless of challenges. Recommended to a few of my HS students.
