4.5 stars - Another heartfelt, beautiful love story by Emma Scott. I haven't read a book of hers that has been less than 4 stars for me. She has a way of hooking me in at the start and I know I'm always in for an emotional ride. Forever Right Now made me fall in love with not just Darlene and Sawyer's story but the love Sawyer had for his little girl and Darlene's journey to self-acceptance.

I also admire the way Emma Scott forced Sawyer to see past his black-and-white thinking and rediscover his humanity. The single-dad trope in this melted me. My favorite was Darlene though. I loved her sunshine, her caring heart, and her flaws. The side characters were also enjoyable additions to the story, even when they made me feel frustrated and protective of our mains.

My only complaint is really more of a preference. I would have loved this more if it was a slow-burn romance. What I enjoy is the slow breaking down of walls and tension. This wasn't insta-love but the trust formed pretty quickly between Darlene and Sawyer. I get that's not the story Emma Scott was focused on here though.
