Finding Lady Enderly

Raina Bretton is a rag woman in London's east end when a handsome stranger appears in a dank alley and offers her a glittering smile and a chance for adventure. Rothburne Abbey has a unique position for her, one that will take her away from her hardscrabble life and give her a chance to be a lady. Things she could only dream of might be coming true. But some dreams turn out to be nightmares.
Though Raina has traded squalor for silk and satin, something about the abbey is deeply unsettling. As she wrestles with her true identity, the ruin, decay, and secrets she finds at the heart of the old mansion tear at her confidence and threaten to reveal her for who she really is. Only one man stands between her and the danger that lurks within--and only if he decides to keep her biggest secret hidden.

Finding Lady Enderly
Author: Joanna Davidson Politano
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
✨ Reading Mood: Poetic • Hopeful • Mysterious • Tender • Redemptive
Joanna Davidson Politano is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I fell in love with her writing last month through The Midnight Dance and The Lost Melody, and I’ve been slowly collecting more of her books ever since. Her poetic writing feels almost dreamlike, and her characters quietly work their way deep into your heart and soul.
Finding Lady Enderly was every bit as lovely as I’d hoped. It carries familiar echoes of My Fair Lady (one of my favorite musicals!) and Cinderella, but with a deeper mystery and much higher stakes.
When Raina, a humble rag woman, is asked to assume the identity of the missing Lady Enderly, she is swept into a world of hidden identities, dangerous secrets, and impossible expectations. As if that weren’t enough, her long-lost love, Sully, finds employment as a servant at the Enderly estate, forcing them to navigate heartbreaking circumstances together. Through it all, Raina begins to discover that her identity has never been found in a title, but in the One who created her.
I absolutely fell in love with Raina and Sully. Their unwavering devotion painted such a beautiful picture of sacrificial, steadfast love. I also adored the way they communicated through passages left for one another in books. It was such an utterly endearing detail that made me cherish their story even more.
And Sully… what a hero. His patience and unwavering devotion to Raina never faltered, even in seasons of confusion and uncertainty. His love reminded me so much of the love Kris has shown me—steadfast, fully committed, and choosing to love through every circumstance. We are both deeply broken people, but we keep choosing one another. That made Sully all the more special to me. ❤️
Raina especially captured my heart. She possesses such a gentle, steady spirit, yet constantly wrestles with believing she is enough. That struggle resonated with me on a deeply personal level.
What impacted me most was the book’s message about our identity in Christ. Raina believed she was too stained by shame to come before God, convinced she was unworthy of His presence. Watching her slowly discover that the Father’s love covers our failures and silences our shame was a healing balm to my own heart. It was a beautiful reminder that our worth has never been determined by our past or our performance. I needed that reminder too, dear Raina. 🫶
I wholeheartedly recommend Finding Lady Enderly. I paired the physical book with the audiobook, and it was such a wonderful experience. The narration beautifully captured the heart of the story and made an already wonderful read even better.
Content Notes: Clean Christian historical fiction. Mild alcohol use. Themes of shame, identity, grief, emotional abuse, and spiritual struggle. Clean romance with no explicit content.
“Won’t you give me but a moment of your time? I only wish to help, and I’ve a splendid opportunity in mind.”
A handsome stranger tracks Raina down a dark alley to offer here a chance of a lifetime opportunity for the position as Lady Enderly, Countess of Rothburne Abbey. An opportunity Raina declines respectfully at that moment. Raina soon assumes the position as Lady Enderly, Countess of Rothburne Abbey. She soon finds herself questioning, who is the real Lady Enderly? Moreover, where is she?
This story is full of mystery, suspense, and romance that will keep you turning the pages until the very end.
