Her uncle Marcel takes an inappropriate interest in her that ultimately results in a tragic breaking point for the child. The only silver lining is that shortly after what Caprice calls "that night", Marcel is booked by local police with a drug possession charge. He's sentenced to prison for twelve years.

Seven years later, however, Marcel is released on good behavior.

Caprice is now sixteen, still dealing with the emotional scars of the past. But things aren't like they were before.

Because now she has Shaun Taylor, the boy across the street who will do whatever it takes to make sure no one ever hurts Caprice again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Caprice & Shaun journey of love, tragedy and happiness. This is my first book by Millie B but I enjoyed it. I almost gave up on it after reading Section 1 because it just felt to slow and drawn out. I had a feeling it would get better. Section 2 had me upset but Section 3 was by far the best part of the whole book and I was in tears reading it. They say you save the best for last and she sure did that. Shaun & Caprice I could tell from the first day of school for 3rd & 5th grade were soul mates. I just got this feeling. Life got in the way and tragedy tore them apart but love and life coincidences is what brought them back together and I'm glad it was. Sanaa was okay but she really wasn't Caprice bestfriend, Shaun was and always had been. He knew the good, bad and the ugly. Sanaa only new the upscale materialistic version and they do not compare. #throwbackreview

Following Caprice from her childhood through adulthood felt like witnessing a full circle a life that begins in pain but ends in peace. fast takes you through trauma, survival, and the long road to healing. It’s a story that begins in darkness filled with abuse, grief, and heartbreak and evolves into one of love, faith, and chosen family. Watching Caprice finally find safety, love, and joy in her own home made me so proud. After everything she endured, she created her own version of happiness one she deeply deserved. 💜 This book is triggering but transformative filled with sorrow, resilience, and hope. It’ll pull you through a whirlwind of emotions you won’t be ready for. The one thing Caprice longed for was happiness and she found it.
