Fake It Till You Bake It (Sugar Blitz, 1)

A reality star and a cupcake-baking football player pretend to be a couple in order to save his bakery in this sweet and sexy romance from Jamie Wesley, Fake It Till You Bake It.

Jada Townsend-Matthews is the most reviled woman in America after turning down a proposal on a reality dating show. When she comes home to lick her wounds, Jada finds herself working at San Diego's newest cupcake bakery, Sugar Blitz, alongside the uptight owner and professional football player Donovan Dell.

When a reporter mistakenly believes Jada and Donovan are an item, they realize they can use the misunderstanding to their advantage to help the struggling bakery and rehabilitate Jada's image. Faking a relationship should be simple, but sometimes love is the most unexpected ingredient.

Fake it Till You Bake It is a sweet confection of a novel, the perfect story to curl up with and enjoy with a cupcake on the side.

A very fun book that I didn’t want to put down. Interesting take on a Bachelor-eske show where the main female character, Jada, rejects the Bachelor. As she faces a lot of social media backlash, her family decides that she needs to grow up and stop being so impulsive. Donovan, our lead male character, does nothing without looking from every vantage point first - whether it’s renewing his contract with his football team or opening up a cupcake shop with his two closest friends. He is never impulsive, and it shows in his failing shop.

I liked how the MCs grew as individuals and how they pushed each other, even before they were a couple. It was about challenging each other to be better, while supporting each other and defending one another. Cute book, fun premise. Gave me the warm fuzzies!

Tropes: enemies to lovers turned fake dating, banter, dyslexia rep

premise was silly but fun! i thought it was cute at first but then i got bored like not enough was happening idk… technically things popped up in the plot but there was just no overall drive to move things along. the romance got cheesy at time, even if it was cute overall. also they break up with like two chapters left, a trope i detest

This book is not my cup of tea. I already don’t really care for romance books as it is, I like very few, and this one just was super cliche and also had severely unlikeable main characters. The writing is not my favorite and it was pretty hard to make it through the book. There is no reason for Jada to have been so nasty and rude. When its a romance boo I fee like I should fall for both of them and their story and romance and that just did not happen, i disliked them both and their “relationship” was super forced. Just not my cup of tea.

This book was delectable in more ways than one!
You have an NFL player that is a baker, passionate about pastry life, owns a cupcake shop! Like how swoony is this premise already?
He meets the vivacious lead while she is at his bakery talking smack and he catches her, dares her to try a cupcake and she leaves on such a sassy note.
Which sets up for some more hilarious and addictive banter between them two for the rest of the book.
The banter between them is probably my most favorite part, and the supporting cast is my second fav part. I know this is setting up for more books in the series so you can color me invested and ready for the next.
This has all the elements I love in Rom Coms plus lots of yummy cupcake talk! Def recommend to all!
