Funny take on millennial malaise with some really lovely moments
OMG I'm not crying...you're crying!
This was a wonderful read! So completely different to what I normally read and definitely not something I should've chosen for myself given my history. Let's just say Gilda was a little too familiar....
Lovely. Emotional. Introspective. Def recommend.

I checked this one out from the library and then procrastinated reading it for weeks because I was worried (lol) that everyone would be right and this would be realistic portrayal of mental illness. And that is exactly what happened. This book made me feel seen in an incredible way I don't think I have ever experienced before. The depiction of the rumination, thought spirals, exhaustion and panic that come with depression and anxiety was so true to my own experience. The stream of consciouness style really lends itself beautifully to immersing yourself in Gilda's thoughts and feelings. There were a couple times while reading this that I found myself back the headspace of when my mental health was at its worst which was beautiful but also terrifying.
If you are a fan of Sally Rooney I think you will enjoy this. I want everyone I know to read this book but I will never read it again.

As much as I related to Gilda's death anxieties, I also found her deeply frustrating.
