"Taut, witty, fiercely intelligent . . . a love triangle in extremis."--New York Times Book Review (cover review)
Euphoria is Lily King's nationally bestselling breakout novel of three young, gifted anthropologists of the 1930s caught in a passionate love triangle that threatens their bonds, their careers, and ultimately their lives. Inspired by events in the life of revolutionary anthropologist Margaret Mead, Euphoria is "dazzling . . . suspenseful . . . brilliant . . . an exhilarating novel." (The Boston Globe)

This book was so incredible it made me want to finally write my first review. I loved the emotional depth King gives each character, as well as her fantastic writing style. The change in narrative perspective throughout the book allowed King to make us see and feel more rather than telling us what to see and how to feel, which was very effective in displaying the emotional range of the characters and their interactions. It is so much more than a love triangle between three anthropologists as the synopsis suggests. It’s a completely gripping story of adventure, desire, and the human condition.

While the subject of anthropology was interesting to explore, the story itself was difficult to follow. Also, the author seemed to hurry the ending. Short chapters with dramatic shifts in the story; most chapters were long.
