Content warning for war genocide, state-sponsored violence, sexual abuse, trauma, and related topics. I hadn't known very much about the war in Vietnam, certainly not the long-lasting impacts of Operation Ranch Hand and Agent Orange, and my understanding of the massacre at My Lai was minimal. The author uses such subtle ties to connect these characters, it was really powerful to read.
