Josie Slater is a tough nut to crack. She lost her mother at a young age and feels obligated to continue working with her father at his restaurant. She is such a good, kind person, always doing things for others, but doesn't allow herself happiness. When an old high school boyfriend returns to town she avoids him at every opportunity even though they both are very good artists and have a lot in common. August likes Josie, but gives her time to come around and never rushes her to like him. He'd like her to help at the new arts camp he is developing with his uncle. It is nice to experience this slow moving developing romance.
