Dealing with Dragons is, for the most part, a parody of all the classic fantasy/fable tropes and it gives major shrek vibes but it came out before shrek so this is, i guess, the mother of shrek... so anyway, of course i loved it. i'm in a reading slump at the moment, but pls know that though it took me three weeks to finish this, this book is bomb. so witty and silly. it shocks me that this isn't a more well-known classic in children's fantasy/fiction (at least not from what i've seen). if you're in need of a quick and easy read, please pick this up. it's a hoot.
This was such an enjoyable read. I checked it out of the library for my daughter to read, but ended up pinching it to read myself. I found myself sniggering away in the same way my teenage-self chuckled along with Terry Pratchett. I’ve read many reviews referring to Harry Potter, but to me this is Discworld genre done well.
