Count Your Lucky Stars: A Sparkling LGBTQ++ Romantic Comedy Featuring Best Friends Turned Lovers

"Bellefleur has a droll, distinct voice, and her one-liners zing off the page, striking both the heart and funny bone... There's a sparkling quality here, one that mirrors the starry title. Bellefleur writes as if she's captured fairy lights in a mason jar, twinkly and lovely within something solid yet fragile." — Entertainment Weekly
Following Written in the Stars and Hang the Moon, Lambda Literary Award winner and national bestselling author Alexandria Bellefleur pens another steamy queer rom-com about former best friends who might be each other's second chance at love…
Margot Cooper doesn’t do relationships. She tried and it blew up in her face, so in this witty romantic comedy she’ll stick with casual hookups, thank you very much. But now her entire crew has found "the one" and she’s beginning to feel like a fifth wheel. And then fate (the heartless bitch) intervenes. While touring a wedding venue with her engaged friends, Margot comes face-to-face with Olivia Grant—her childhood friend, her first love, her first… well, everything, kicking off a heartfelt second chance romance. It’s been ten years, but the moment they lock eyes, Margot’s cold, dead heart thumps in her chest.
Olivia must be hallucinating. In the decade since she last saw Margot, her life hasn’t gone exactly as planned. At almost thirty, she’s been married... and divorced. However, a wedding planner job in Seattle means a fresh start and a chance to follow her dreams. Never in a million years did she expect her important new client’s Best Woman would be the one that got away.
When a series of unfortunate events leaves Olivia without a place to stay, Margot offers up her spare room—a classic case of forced proximity—because she’s a Very Good Person. Obviously. It has nothing to do with the fact that Olivia is as beautiful as ever and the sparks between them still make Margot tingle. As they navigate their new roommate romance, Margot starts to question her no-strings stance. Olivia is everything she’s ever wanted, but this friends-to-lovers story ended in disaster the first time around. Will history repeat itself or should she count her lucky stars that she gets a second chance with her first love?

Out of the whole trilogy, Count Your Lucky Stars is easily my favorite of the bunch! This time, we get to follow Margot and her story. She’s feeling more and more like a fifth wheel as her friends are all coupled up and getting married. Enter Olivia, an old friend/flame of Margot’s and the wedding planner for Margot’s friends Brendon and Annie. Their reunion stirs a whole bunch of mixed feelings they have to work through and the rest is history.
I sound like a broken record because I keep repeating myself but I have truly fell in love with this universe of characters in a way that I can’t truly describe. Bellefleur has a knack for writing diverse yet incredibly relatable characters and situations that it feels like I’m just hanging out with a real group of friends when I read.
Needless to say, this is my favorite out of the series by a landslide and I have a new favorite author! Highly suggest, especially if you’re a fan of romcoms!

Like "Hang the Moon", the third novel in the "Written in the Stars" trilogy simply cannot live up to the stellar original, which hits all the right marks and reaches for the stars (I had to, sorry). However, Olivia and Margot's story is just as sexy, romantic, and whimsical--sometimes to a fault--as books one and two. Though the conflict may not be as engaging as those prior, new and returning characters are enough to keep you reading until the very end. Swoon-worthy moments, check. Romance galore, check. And a beautiful ending, half-check. Everything is here for a great read! The epilogue in particular makes the whole series that much more worth it. A neat book, through and through!
