Acevedo does it again! She pours her heart into everything she writes. I'm so glad that I read this book with my Project LIT students. This book gave them a space to discuss so many things. I'm glad she gave equal voice to both her main characters. Often in books, we long to hear the voice of other characters but this book we get the soul and feelings of the characters. Just read it and you will see how amazing her writing is and how she develops characters. Excellent read!
A phenomenal book from start to finish! Elizabeth Acevedo is such an amazing writer and it was difficult to put this book down. Such an amazing story about loss, love, secrets, and the importance of family. Highly recommend for anyone and everyone!!
So beautiful! I'm not a big audiobook fan, but I'm happy I listened to this one instead of picking up a physical copy. The lyrical and poetic language deserves to be heard. This is a sister story I won't soon forget.

It’s honestly shocking to me that it’s taken so long to post any of Elizabeth Acevedo’s books on here—but I did read them all prior to making this account, I guess. And I’m just finally buying my own copies of them, which means there will be a few related posts in the near future ✨
“Clap When You Land” follows the stories of Camino and Yahaira, who only learn about one another following their father’s death in a plane crash. What follows is an outpouring of grief and confusion as they grapple with their new realities.
This is a poetic novel, and I can’t put into words how beautiful of an experience it is to read. The way Acevedo uses line and space to build each speaker’s voice, while still developing the narrative, is one of my favorite parts of the book.
