Here's what I do know: I wouldn't classify it as a thriller, and it seems more historically factual than most historical fiction books that I've read. I did enjoy how the difficulties of an investigation were put on display, you had two equally viable suspects with substantial evidence against both making for a case with a lot of gray area. I also sincerely appreciated how the author tried to keep the language and attitudes as historically accurate as possible.
