Blood Orange (The Dracula Duet)

From the New York Times & USA Today bestselling author of Black Sunshine and River of Shadows comes a new dark vampire romance about the vampire known as Dracula.

Once there was a man who fell deeply in love with a woman he could never have. When their affair was uncovered she was brutally murdered in front of him, and he discovered he was cursed, doomed to live forever as a vampire.

Over the centuries, he found his love again, and lost her again, until he was so broken he gave up on love entirely, sinking into the depths of depravity, losing his humanity.

Then one day, she came back into his life. A student of music studying under him at the conservatory in Venice, Italy where he was a professor. But even though he found her beautiful and intriguing, he didn't recognize his fated mate at all.

Because this time she had to hide her true self.

This time she came back as a witch, whose destiny wasn't to love him...but to kill him.

Blood Orange is a modern-day Dracula retelling about the "real-life" Dracula that inspired Bram Stoker. This is a dark vampire romance with plenty of content warnings (please check interior of book) and while it is a spinoff of The Dark Eyes Duet, it can be read as a standalone.

I love the idea of Dracula reimagined and adding Val Helsing was a great addition. I didn’t expect the ending and I can’t wait to read the next book. The slayer aspect and witch Dahlia was the perfect combination for exploring reincarnation into the relationship.

Oh my goodness! The story is freaking awesome!! Vampires and witches! I absolutely love how this story was developed. It’s very intriguing and new for me. Usually it’s werewolves and vampires fighting. It’s a first for me that witches hunt vampires! The narrators are wonderful in this audiobook. The characters are dramatic and complicated. The spice is volcanic! I can wait to read the second part of this duology. 🥰

"My heart will always find yours" Multiple lifetimes will always be my FAVORITE trope. This is an interesting extension of Dracula, its definitely not a retelling or even loosely based. I am a sucker for a love story, mix in some revange (that is hopefully on the wag) and I am all for it. There are a lot of plot holes and unanswered questions and the epilogue didn't help, thw author probably should have edited that part out.....just saying. But its a spicy read, definitely not vanilla. It is fun for the folks that like a age gap with a hint of academia...the FMC is 28. We love and adult FMC...we need more for this yall. I will definitely be geabing book 2. Your triggers are your responsibility!!!
