Yikes. And I thought I suffered from detail-itis. I enjoyed learning more about Scientology (this having been my third book on the topic; Leah Remini’s Troublemaker being my first), but dang, this just seemed to go on and on and on. As another reviewer stated, I consider ability to condense parts would have not caused the story to suffer (ditto: the reader).
An emotional and eye-opening memoir that gives a deeply personal look into growing up in a highly controlled world. Heartbreaking, honest, and unsettling at times, but incredibly powerful and hard to put down. I rated it 4 stars because I kept waiting for the more “harrowing” escape moment, but overall it was still a really impactful read.
