Woah that was dark, heavy, and very emotional. Very character-driven and quite an original YA fantasy.
This is a 5 star read that I can acknowledge as a masterwork without wanting to reread it. Maybe listen to the audiobook again, but not a reread. I’m so glad this book exists and will spark all sorts of conversations about the real-world realities of the narrative and the fantastical places it pushes fantasy books. I’d recommend read this alongside some lighter fare, but I still recommend reading it.
