Archer's Voice (Where Love Meets Destiny, 1)

From New York Times bestselling author Mia Sheridan comes an emotional, slow burn romance about a woman desperate to hide and the man who sees through her walls--perfect for fans of Colleen Hoover and Lucy Score.

"A beautifully touching story of true love and triumph over heartbreaking situations." --People.com

I wanted to lose myself in the small town of Pelion, Maine. To forget everything I had left behind. The sound of rain. The blood. The coldness of a gun against my skin.

For six months, each breath has been a reminder that I survived--and my dad didn't. I'm almost safe again. But the moment I meet Archer Hale, my entire world tilts on its axis ... and never rights itself again.

Until I trespass into his strange, silent, and isolated world, Archer communicates with no one. Yet in his whiskey-colored eyes, something intangible happens between us. There's so much more to him than just his beauty, his presence, or the ways his hands communicate with me. On me.

But this town is mired in secrets and betrayals, and Archer is the explosive center of it all.

So much passion. And so much hurt. But it's only in Archer's silence that we might just find what we need to heal ... and live.

Includes an exclusive extended epilogue from Archer's POV!

“Sometimes an understanding silence was better than a bunch of meaningless words.” “Archer's Voice” by Mia Sheridan is one of the best books I’ve read and has become one of my all-time favourites. It’s unique, emotional, and perfectly balanced, leaving a lasting impression on me. Sheridan has a remarkable talent for creating characters that you genuinely connect with and remember long after finishing the book. Archer is an amazing, inspirational character—emotionally vulnerable yet strong. Having faced a difficult life filled with prejudice and isolation, he’s misunderstood until he meets Bree. Their story is powerful and profoundly moving. “They don’t know who you are, Archer. They have no idea. And they don’t deserve to know. Don’t let their judgment hurt you.” “How do you teach a man who has lost everything, not to fear it happening again?” Bree takes Archer on a voyage of self-discovery, eventually leading to the faint flicker of love between them. What starts as a little ember soon morphs into a raging fire, and once these two eventually concede to their feelings, the result is magical and beautiful to read. “I want to be able to love you more than I fear losing you, and I don’t know how. Teach me, Bree. Please teach me. Don’t let me destroy this.” I can't go into too much detail about this story without spoiling it, but it's one you really need to read for yourself. It's not just an incredible love story; it's also a life lesson. The character connections are phenomenal, drawing you into a beautiful journey from friends to lovers. This book challenges us not to judge others based on appearances and highlights the importance of understanding and compassion. “And I thought to myself, Archer Hale’s voice was one of the most beautiful things in the whole wide world.” Mia Sheridan, you never cease to amaze me, and I genuinely look forward to more in this series. Once again, it was an exceptional read, truly fabulous!

“Archer’s Voice” was the first Mia Sheridan book that I ever read, and I first read it many years ago, probably when it was a bit too young to be reading it lol. Either way, I loved it then, and I’ve since read it several times more because it’s such an original and beautifully crafted story. Archer and Brie are beautiful together and the way that they communicate is even more beautiful. Every Sheridan book has some element of darkness, whether it be mentions of child abuse, domestic violence, etc. and this book has an almost-rape scene described by the victim, as well as a scene describing violence with guns. None of it is too graphic, and they are very brief descriptions. The best part about Mia Sheridan’s books is that love always wins, and that’s the case for Archer and Brie in “Archer’s Voice”.

This is a story about two broken people who find each other, work through their trauma, find healing and falling in love. It's a beautiful story BUT I feel like the execution was done poorly. I know I'm going to get a lot of hate over this. Perhaps this book just wasn't written for me (it gave me Hoover writing feels). I'm not really into the instant love trope. I found the FMC a little stalkerish and obsessed after the first meeting of Archer. Her trauma responses didn't really feel realistic to me. Her forgiveness was a bit quick as well. I felt the MMC made drastic decisions without thought. I enjoyed his POV as a child, and his story did pull on my heartstrings and his life is heartbreaking. I'm glad they got their happy ever ending.
