Archer's Voice (Where Love Meets Destiny, 1)

"A beautifully touching story of true love and triumph over heartbreaking situations." -- People.com

From New York Times bestselling author Mia Sheridan comes an emotional, slow burn romance about a woman desperate to hide and the man who sees through her walls, perfect for fans of Colleen Hoover and Lucy Score.

I wanted to lose myself in the small town of Pelion, Maine. To forget everything I had left behind. The sound of rain. The blood. The coldness of a gun against my skin. For six months, each breath has been a reminder that I survived--and my dad didn't. I'm almost safe again. But the moment I meet Archer Hale, my entire world tilts on its axis . . . and never rights itself again.

Until I trespass into his strange, silent, and isolated world, Archer communicates with no one. Yet in his whiskey-colored eyes, something intangible happens between us. There's so much more to him than just his beauty, his presence, or the ways his hands communicate with me. On me. But this town is mired in secrets and betrayals, and Archer is the explosive center of it all.

So much passion. And so much hurt. But it's only in Archer's silence that we might just find what we need to heal . . . and live.

Includes an exclusive extended epilogue from Archer's POV!

“Archer’s Voice” was the first Mia Sheridan book that I ever read, and I first read it many years ago, probably when it was a bit too young to be reading it lol. Either way, I loved it then, and I’ve since read it several times more because it’s such an original and beautifully crafted story. Archer and Brie are beautiful together and the way that they communicate is even more beautiful. Every Sheridan book has some element of darkness, whether it be mentions of child abuse, domestic violence, etc. and this book has an almost-rape scene described by the victim, as well as a scene describing violence with guns. None of it is too graphic, and they are very brief descriptions. The best part about Mia Sheridan’s books is that love always wins, and that’s the case for Archer and Brie in “Archer’s Voice”.

This is a story about two broken people who find each other, work through their trauma, find healing and falling in love. It's a beautiful story BUT I feel like the execution was done poorly. I know I'm going to get a lot of hate over this. Perhaps this book just wasn't written for me (it gave me Hoover writing feels). I'm not really into the instant love trope. I found the FMC a little stalkerish and obsessed after the first meeting of Archer. Her trauma responses didn't really feel realistic to me. Her forgiveness was a bit quick as well. I felt the MMC made drastic decisions without thought. I enjoyed his POV as a child, and his story did pull on my heartstrings and his life is heartbreaking. I'm glad they got their happy ever ending.

the book was really good. i enjoyed the plot so much but the amount of smut caught me off guard and kind of ruined the book for me. i thought it was romance with a hint of smut but nope. would’ve enjoyed seeing bree and archer doing more couple things just having sex.
